On behalf of myself and NSCU, we believe that Sabrina should be nominated for the Truly Caring Touch award for 2025. Sabrina’s nursing career at North Shore University Hospital originated as a float nurse, which provided her with the foundation to grow into the extraordinary nurse she is today. She then embarked on expanding her knowledge in critical care and joined our team in 2021. Since then, Sabrina has been a vital component of our staff and helps foster and develop the future of nursing.

During patient experience rounding, Sabrina’s name is often brought to our attention. Her kind, gentle bedside manner is something that all her patients and their families embrace. Her knowledgeable demeanor provides a sense of security and allows her patients to develop a trusting relationship and rapport. Sabrina is the listening ear and the hand to hold during difficult times. Her empathetic ways are always sought after in efforts to try and improve patient experience and outcomes.

Aside from patient involvement, Sabrina has also been a huge part of our unit-based committees, such as the collaborative care council. She ensures that there is a platform for all team members to bring concerns or feedback for further acknowledgement and review. She is truly dedicated to making sure everyone’s needs are heard. Sabrina also often volunteers to take new staff members under her wing and guide them through orientation as a preceptor. Her patience and teaching style is something well perceived, and she does a wonderful job in instilling our mission and values within our novice nurses.

Sabrina is a true asset to our team. Her nursing expertise and kindhearted attributes are traits that are admirable to our patients and their families. It is an honor to recognize her as a nominee for this award and a pleasure to work alongside her. She is a leader in our field and her approach to nursing care should be demonstrated by all.
